Search for Invisible Decays of a Dark Photon Produced in e+e− Collisions at BaBar

2017

We search for single-photon events in 53  fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-Factory. We look for events with a single high-energy photon and a large missing momentum and energy, consistent with production of a spin-1 particle A^{'} through the process e^{+}e^{-}→γA^{'}; A^{'}→invisible. Such particles, referred to as "dark photons," are motivated by theories applying a U(1) gauge symmetry to dark matter. We find no evidence for such processes and set 90% confidence level upper limits on the coupling strength of A^{'} to e^{+}e^{-} in the mass range m_{A^{'}}≤8  GeV. In particular, our limits exclude the values of the A^{'} coupling sugges…

Search for Dimuon Decays of a Light Scalar Boson in Radiative Transitions Υ→γA0

2009

We search for evidence of a light scalar boson in the radiative decays of the {Upsilon}(2S) and {Upsilon}(3S) resonances: {Upsilon}(2S, 3S) {yields} {gamma}A{sup 0}, A{sup 0} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}. Such a particle appears in extensions of the Standaard Model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson naturally couples strongly to b-quarks. We find no evidence for such processes in the mass range 0.212 {<=} m{sub A{sup 0}} {<=} 9.3 GeV in the samples of 99 x 10{sup 6} {Upsilon}(2S) and 122 x 10{sup 6} {Upsilon}(3S) decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-factory and set stringent upper limits on the effective coupling of the b quark to the A{sup 0}. We also limit the dimuon b…

The leading hadronic contribution to the running of the Weinberg angle using covariant coordinate-space methods

2018

We present a preliminary study of the leading hadronic contribution to the running of the Weinberg angle $\theta_{\mathrm{W}}$. The running is extracted from the correlation function of the electromagnetic current with the vector part of the weak neutral current using both the standard time-momentum representation method and the Lorentz-covariant coordinate-space method recently introduced by Meyer. Both connected and disconnected contributions have been computed on $N_{\mathrm{f}}=2+1$ non-perturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson fermions configurations from the CLS initiative. Similar covariant coordinate-space methods can be used to compute the leading hadronic contribution to the anomalous…

The role of N*(2120) nucleon resonance in KΛ(1520) photon and hadronic productions

2013

The associate $K\Lambda(1520)$ photon and hadronic production in the $\gamma p \to K^+\Lambda(1520)$, $p p \to p K^+ \Lambda(1520)$ and $\pi^- p \to K^0 \Lambda(1520)$ reactions are investigated within the effective Lagrangian approach and the isobar model. We are interested in the contribution from the $N^*(2120)$ (previously called $N^*(2080)$) resonance, which has a significant coupling to the $K\Lambda(1520)$ channel. The theoretical results show that the current experimental data for the $\gamma p \to K^+\Lambda(1520)$ reaction favor the existence of the $N^*(2120)$ resonance, and that these measurements can be used to further constrain its properties. We present results, including the…

Higgs boson pair production in the D = 6 extension of the SM

2014

We derive the constraints that can be imposed on the dimension-6 effective theory extension of the Standard Model, using gluon fusion-initiated Higgs boson pair production at the LHC. We use a realistic analysis focussing on the hh→(bb¯¯)(τ+τ−) final state, including initial-state radiation and non-perturbative effects. We include the statistical uncertainties on the signal rates as well as conservative estimates of the theoretical uncertainties. We first consider a theory containing only modifications of the trilinear coupling, through a c6λ H6/v2 Lagrangian term, and then examine the full parameter space of the effective theory, incorporating current bounds obtained through single Higgs b…

P-odd observables at the upsilon peak

1997

We study the $\gamma$-Z interference in the process $e^+ e^-\to \Upsilon \to \tau^+ \tau^-$ as a means to measure the neutral current coupling of the b-quark. The helicity amplitudes are calculated from resonant and background diagrams and the spin density matrix of the final state is discussed. The spin analyzer of the $\tau$'s is illustrated with the decays $\pi \nu$ and $\rho \nu \to (\pi \pi) \nu$. With $10^8 \Upsilon$ a sensitivity to $g_V^b$ of a few per cent could be reachable.

Strongly Coupled Models with a Higgs-like Boson

2013

Considering the one-loop calculation of the oblique S and T parameters, we have presented a study of the viability of strongly-coupled scenarios of electroweak symmetry breaking with a light Higgs-like boson. The calculation has been done by using an effective Lagrangian, being short-distance constraints and dispersive relations the main ingredients of the estimation. Contrary to a widely spread believe, we have demonstrated that strongly coupled electroweak models with massive resonances are not in conflict with experimental constraints on these parameters and the recently observed Higgs-like resonance. So there is room for these models, but they are stringently constrained. The vector and…

Dark Matter in Leptoquark Portal

2021

A beyond the standard model portal scenario for Majorana fermion dark matter (DM) particle with leptoquark being the mediator field is of the main focus of this study. We explore the parameter space of the only unknown coupling in the model which is sensitive to all three main features of a DM model, namely, relic density, direct detection as well as indirect detection, while being consistent with the collider searches. The AMS-02 data for antiproton flux imposes stringent bound till date which excludes the DM mass up to \(400\,\)GeV at 95% C.L. The LUX 2016 data for DM-neutron scattering cross section allows the region compatible with relic density; however, the future sensitivity of LZ ex…

Oscillation spectra of semilinear photorefractive coherent oscillator with two pump waves

2002

The transition of the single-frequency oscillation of a semilinear photorefractive coherent oscillator for sufficiently large coupling strengths into two-frequency oscillation is predicted and is observed experimentally. The critical value of coupling strength at which the bifurcation occurs is a function of pump-intensity ratio and cavity losses. For certain combinations of these parameters, the critical coupling strength for spectrum bifurcation becomes smaller than the threshold coupling strength: in these cases double-frequency oscillation appears at the threshold. The supercritical bifurcation in the oscillation spectrum is analogous to the second-order phase transition.

Monte Carlo study of surface phase transitions in the three-dimensional Ising model.

1990

We present the results of extensive Monte Carlo simulations of phase transitions and critical behavior at the surface of a simple cubic Ising model. Profiles of the magnetization and internal energy are determined as a function of the distance from the surface, and we extract surface and bulk properties as a function of temperature and surface coupling ${\mathit{J}}_{\mathit{s}}$. The surface-bulk multicritical point is located with improved precision, ${\mathit{J}}_{\mathit{s}}$/J=1.52\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.02, and crossover behavior is studied. New estimates for critical exponents are extracted, ${\ensuremath{\gamma}}_{1}$=0.78\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06, ${\ensuremath{\gamma}…
